"Fashions come and go", to quote the saying. Although what does it mean to be modern? To be avant-garde, ensuring survival into the future, means above all one thing for our traditional company: finding ways to progress without destroying what we have already managed to conserve.

The tannery Joh.Rendenbach Jr, was founded in 1871 by the great-grandfather of the current proprietor Hanns Rendenbach and belongs to the last few old-established firms in Trier. As one of only three manufacturers in Germany, we produce durable, cellular sole-leather using the century-old, classic method of oak-bark ground tanning for top range shoes and shoe repairs as well as for the orthopaedic and fitted shoe markets.
Tradition and innovation go hand in hand in our firm: through precise technological and estate investments as well as rationalised logistics, administration, and delivery procedures, we have given our company a contemporary look over the last ten years. As a result it is now one of the world's largest suppliers of traditional oak-bark tanned sole-leather.
